Summary:
Scheduled to make its debut in the Northeast this year, the Nissan Altima is the first hybrid in its inventory. Touted as the most advanced Altima ever, it shares the same gas engine as its non-hybrid counterpart and adds a hybrid electric system to help reduce emissions and increase gas mileage. The 2007 Nissan Altima hybrid is a full hybrid, making it able to travel at low speeds under electric propulsion alone.

Considered it is being debuted as a true Nissan, it will contain standard Intelligent Key with push-button ignition, electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission, available touch-screen navigation system with voice recognition and Rearview Monitor, and an even Bluetooth Hands-free Phone System.

Engine:
The 2007 Nissan Altima Hybrid has a 2.5-liter-4cylinder engine. The power train will offer a Controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). The engine itself has 158 horsepower and combined with the hybrid system it has a total of 198 net horsepower. It will have a 40 horsepower permanent magnet AC synchronous motor. The electric motor has a 199 lb-ft of torque. The hybrid battery pack is 244.8 Volts.

41 miles per gallon city; 36 miles per gallon highway

Interior:
With a seating capacity of five, there is no definitive information on specific interior features as yet.

Exterior:
Listed as a mid-size car, since it has not debuted, there is no information available other than the weight: 3448; height: 58.1; and length: 189.8. The 2007 Nissan Altima Hybrid will look similar to the non-hybrid Altima. It will have unique hybrid badging.

Safety Features:
Since there is no definitive information, the Nissan Altima will most likely include the standard airbags; side guard door beams; child safety door locks; trunk anti-trap device; and panic button or alarm.
